Project: Solstice Montreal

Structura’s involvement with the Solstice project is one piece of a large luxury condominium build. Brandon Rohr, Product Designer for Structura, played a pivotal role from the project's early stages, working closely with CS design to develop the designs for the project. He and CS Design’s expertise and collaboration helped shape how the project developed.

When asked to comment on the lighting aspect of the project, Conor Sampson highlighted the key vision behind this design: “The project developers were keen to emphasize the public nature of this passageway, and we were looking for a feature lighting installation of scale to highlight the end of this prominent pedestrian axis in downtown Montreal. The intersecting geometries of the poured-in-place ‘Y’ columns and the Aura rings lend a certain playfulness and mystery to the space, especially the largest ring which floats around the central support. Much work was put in by the whole team to rationalize the supports and wiring, giving the whole installation a levity and simplicity which complements the architecture without being overly dominant.”

This intricate design required careful planning and close attention to detail, as the lighting installation became a focal point for the entire pedestrian experience. The final result is a striking balance of form and function that not only enhances the beauty of the space but also provides a welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. After two years of deliberation and problem-solving with various partners, we are thrilled with the outcome and hope the residents of The Solstice Montreal are too!

We would also like to recognize EDP, Neuf Architects, BPA Engineers, and Kodem Development for their valuable collaboration on the Solstice Project. Their contributions were essential in turning this ambitious vision into reality, resulting in a unique and dynamic space that reflects the spirit of downtown Montreal while adding a modern aesthetic touch to the luxury condominium. Together, this team has created a space that harmonizes design, architecture, and community experience.
